 | | Enforcement notices served by Stratford-on-Avon DC
The photos in this collection were mostly taken on Sunday 25th November 2007. It is an attempt to make the local community aware of the conditions in which gamebirds and poultry are being reared together with the unacceptable effects on the neighbours living in Kington Lane
Every householder has the right of peaceful enjoyment of his house and garden. Mr & Mrs Hopkins have lived in their house in Kington Lane for over 30 years. Over the last four years though they have endured increasing problems caused by the farm and they are clearly not enjoying a peaceful retirement.
The nauseating, sickly smell of poultry faeces coming from the farm was immediately noticeable as I went into their garden today. In addition their garden is lit up like Blackpool illuminations when chick rearing commences as artificial lighting is switched on in the spring to extend the daylight hours over hundreds of metal and wooden game bird breeding boxes.
Stratford on Avon District Council are now taking action against the farmer for breaches of local laws but common sense should prevail here and the farmer should make compromises in his farming policy in order to allow his neighbours to live in peace without the noise, smell and disturbance that they are suffering at the moment.
